What Makes this Work?
Donations are solicited from individuals and organizations
that share the same philosophy and wish to participate in
this project. These donations are used in the purchase and
placement of Ten Commandment Monuments.
How do the Parishes Get Money for a Monument?
This is where “The Commandments of God” comes into play. Our
method of raising funds is a process that does not reduce
the amount of normal donations in the weekly collection. Each parish that wants to obtain or participate in the
purchase of a monument is assisted in raising funds for
their project. We have found that parishioners and members
of faith organizations want to be involved. This process
helps build the parish community with a common goal that
will be seen by everyone in the parish. If adequate funds
cannot be raised in a reasonable time, “The Commandments of
God” will donate a reasonable amount of funds to complete
the goal.
Have
“The Commandments of God” Unlimited Funds?
Absolutely not, we continue to solicit funds by promoting
our mission and invite people to
enjoy the great feeling of
being a part of an effort like this. These donations almost
become “living memorials” for the donors to see.
Some organizations hold fundraisers for donations to “The
Commandments of God” to express their commitment to the same
philosophy as ours. Most parishes instruct “The Commandments
of God” to keep any excess donations to use in assisting
poorer parishes meet the amount needed to purchase a
monument.
What
is the Size of a Monument?
A question often asked is “How big is one of these monuments
and what do they look like?” The monuments are 5’ 4” high
and weigh 850 lbs. They are made of either granite or
marble. The granite monuments are available in two colors,
black or red and engraved in gold. The marble pieces are
available in white Italian marble or a sand colored marble
that is quarried from Mt. Sinai. These are engraved with
black letters. The monuments shown on this page are Mt.
Sinai marble.
What
is on the Other Side of the Monument?
The
reverse side of each monument is engraved with the
Beatitudes. Some of the Commandments are considered to be
negative, but the Beatitudes are positive. It is suggested
the parishes select the location in the highest traffic area
in the parish compound and position the monument so the
Commandment side is facing parishioners going into church
and so they can view the Beatitudes when leaving. This sends
two messages; displaying the things we should not do and
also the works we should perform.
What
is the Cost of the Monuments?
Good question. The
pricing is as follows:
*
Prices subject to change without notice.
(Prices effective 3/1/06)
Shipping costs vary between:
$300 to $600 (approximation) for large monuments depending on the distance and the location. Of course
fuel costs also affect this price. A specific quote will be given at
the time the monument is ordered.
Shipping costs for miniatures and plaques will be quoted at the time
of order.
You too can experience the joy and pride of giving by
participating in this project.
